SPE workshop

About 70 coal seam gas professionals from Queensland and overseas attended the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Applied Technology Workshop ”Production Management Best Practices for CBM Fields” held at Surfers Paradise, Queensland, 30 March – 2 April 2009.  This was a good opportunity to both contribute to and learn from peers in the industry.

Our particular inputs to the workshop are shown below.

Selection of Field Compressors for CSG Gathering Systems” (Poster PDF file /600 KB). This poster summarised our experience in evaluation of tenders for coal seam gas field compressors, using the Choosing By Advantages Decisionmaking System, by Jim Suhr (ISBN 978-1-56720-217-5).

Coal Seam Gas Wellhead Facilities. Some observations & ideas from Australian practice” (Presentation PDF file, 715 KB). Here we summarised design options that we developed during involvement with the front end engineering design for the Lacerta field, near Roma, Queensland.  After an expenditure of approximately $1 million on field’s surface facilities engineering,  the owner (Sunshine Gas) was acquired by the Queensland Gas Company (QGC) who itself was later acquired by the super-major BG Group.
